Good for you. My JW mother would look at a person in that man's situation and moan, 'oh how we need the new system' or something dumb like that. So while they're all longing for Candyland, we can try to do a natural, human kindness when we can!!

i was raised as a jw from the age of 4, my father was an elder for 18 years, was a auxillary pioneer for years, been there done all that and decided to leave at age 30, i have chosen a pagan path and am very happy but sometimes i feel guilty for no reason, does anyone else ever have this problem?
if you do, how do you handle it?

I only occasionally feel guilty about my lack of a relationship w/ my parents, but more often, I feel anger at them and the WT org. Anger is more productive, I think, it allows you to place the blame where it belongs, and that is not on yourself.

ok so apparently the gb has instutuited some kind of quota for aux pioneers for the month of april for the memorial or something.
so the pos wife came up to me yesterday and told me "every congregation needs at least 16 aux pioneers for the month of april.

); even as a kid i believed that if i was ashamed of being a witness that jesus would be ashamed of me, and so, i witnessed whenever appropriate.
at work and at school, people almost always said something positive in return and i rarely, if ever, received criticism for it.

i remember one at a district assembly.
a brother was being interviewed as to why he never chose over time work at his job.
he said he worked for a small printing company and that he was content with working regular hours.
Countless times. At the end of a particularly cheery one given by a blood-sucking pioneer in my hall, I said outloud, 'Well why doesn't someone throw her a treat already!!"
i was brought up around the "truth" as a child.
my parents studied some then later after they were divorced, we (mom, sis and i) moved in with my grandparents, who were inactive witnesses.
though inactive, they still touted all the wts lingo and doctrine.

I have heard many times that when you meet with elders to discuss reinstatement that you must cry, they won't believe you if you don't cry. But not too much, you don't want them to think that you're crazy or 'on an emotional kick' to get re-in.

Now that I am Hoho no mo', when I speak of my evil JW past, I hear what people really think of them. Co-workers and clients have used words like antisocial, anti-government, toddler-spankers, masters of brainwashing, obsessive, exclusive, family-destroyers, ignorant, masogynists, uneducated. . .
Lessons: 1) I have learned that when I was a JW, people were just being nice, and so they said nice things. People are generally nice.
2) People are also generally Not Stupid and saw what a mess the JWs are long before I did.
i guess that's how it will always be for me,,i've moved on,,all my family is "out' thankfully,,but i spent too many years there, and i won't ever become a member of a religion,,in jest, you are my "church" i guess.
